calcium nitrate

Calcium Nitrate

Calcium Nitrate is a highly water-soluble fertilizers that supplies two essential plant nutrients—Calcium (Ca) and Nitrate Nitrogen (NO₃⁻)—in a readily available form. It is ideal for fertigation, foliar spray, and soil application. As a premium-grade fertilizer, it enhances cell wall strength, improves fruit quality, and boosts the overall health and resilience of crops. Calcium Nitrate is especially beneficial in preventing and correcting calcium deficiencies that can lead to issues like blossom end rot in tomatoes and tip burn in leafy vegetables.

Benefits
  1. Improves Fruit Quality & Shelf Life: Enhances firmness and shelf life of fruits and vegetables by strengthening cell walls.
  2. Prevents Calcium Deficiency Disorders: Effectively prevents common calcium-related disorders like blossom end rot, bitter pit, and tip burn.
  3. Supports Rapid Plant Growth: Nitrate form of nitrogen promotes fast absorption and supports rapid vegetative growth.
  4. Enhances Stress Resistance: Strengthens plant tissues, making crops more resistant to diseases and abiotic stress like heat and drought.
  5. Boosts Root Development: Promotes healthy root systems, increasing nutrient and water uptake.
  6. Non-Acidifying: Unlike ammonium-based fertilizers, Calcium Nitrate does not acidify the soil and helps maintain soil pH balance.
  7. Compatible with Most Fertilizers: Easily blends with other water-soluble fertilizers except those containing phosphate or sulphate ions.
  8. Increases Crop Yield and Profitability: Consistent application leads to uniform crop development and higher commercial value of produce.
Application
  • Soil Application: Calcium Nitrate use as a basal or top-dressing fertilizer. Broadcast evenly and irrigate immediately.
  • Fertigation: Inject through drip irrigation systems for precise nutrient delivery.
  • Foliar Spray: Prepare a 0.5% to 1% solution (5-10g per litre of water) and spray during early morning or late afternoon for best absorption.
Time
  • Vegetative Stage: Apply Calcium Nitrate during early plant growth to promote root and shoot development.
  • Pre-Flowering to Fruit Development Stage: Apply Calcium Nitrate during flowering and fruit setting to enhance fruit firmness and avoid calcium deficiencies.
  • Critical Growth Periods: Apply Calcium Nitrate at stages when calcium demand is high, especially in fruiting and fast-growing crops.
Precaution
  • Do not mix Calcium Nitrate with phosphate or sulfate-containing fertilizers in the same tank to avoid precipitation.
  • Always perform a compatibility test before mixing with other agrochemicals.
  • Use clean water for foliar application and avoid spraying during high sunlight or rain.
  • Store Calcium Nitrate in a cool, dry place away from moisture and direct sunlight.
  • Wear gloves and eye protection while handling the product.
Shelf Life 2 years from the date of manufacture if stored properly in sealed, moisture-proof packaging.
